A number of peace groups in Korea are organizing a Peace and Disarmament Fair for the first time in Korea. This was initially started last March, and AI Korea has participated in discussions since April and decided to participate back in May. The Fair is scheduled for October 2 – 3 (Sat – Sun). Its objective is to raise issues regarding arms industry and its problem and to promote peace and disarmament issues.

The Fair’s basic program is as follows:

Exhibitions (on issues we cover): Cluster Munitions, Land Mines, Nuclear Weapons, Arms Trade Treaty, Missile Defence System, National Defence Budget

Street Theatre On Landmine, “Spotlights on a massacre, 10 films against 100milliion anti-person mine” / 40min On Atomic Bomb, “Original Child Bomb” / 57min Street Lecture Hong-gu HAN, Tae-ho LEE, Se-wha HONG

Other Events: Speaking event with Atomic Bomb survivor, Music Festival

The Peace and Disarmament fair is hosted for the first time in Korea and this is a bit of an experimental project. Peace NGOs in Korea are mostly grass-root organizations and they are not well resourced financially.

Hope you can make it out!
